The IEEE ITSS Road Safety Ideathon 2025, funded by IEEE ITSS and co-sponsored by IIC, PDEU, successfully completed Day 1 activities, which included expert sessions and idea pitching in the road safety domain.

Expert Sessions

The ideathon featured sessions from distinguished experts who motivated and guided participants:

  1. Dr. Ramesh Battula, Associate Professor, MNIT Jaipur
  2. Prof. Siba K. Udgata, Professor, Central University of Hyderabad
  3. Mr. Anay Mashruwala, CEO, Venus Engineering Works & Co-Creation Partner, House of Starts

Participation and Shortlisting

A total of 40 teams registered for the first round, and 25 teams were shortlisted for the second round. Participants from institutions including NIT Goa, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalay (Ministry of Railways), SIT Nagpur, PDEU, and others joined the PDEU campus for expert talks and interactive sessions. There were total 60 participant that includes 8 IEEE members.

Event Highlights

  • The day commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pooja Shah, providing an overview of PDEU and IEEE Gujarat Section.
  • This was followed by an inspiring talk from Dr. Maryam Kaveshgar, VP of Outreach Activities, IEEE-ITSS.
  • Day 1 concluded with a presentation on the activities of IIC, PDEU, marking the successful completion of the first day.

Upcoming Activities (Day 2)

The second day of the ideathon is scheduled for 9:00 AM, where jury members from industry, academia, and management will assess the ideas of the selected teams. The top three teams will be awarded:

  • Winner: ₹15,000
  • 1st Runner-up: ₹10,000
  • 2nd Runner-up: ₹5,000
    Additionally, a consolation prize will be awarded to one team.
