Chapter Activities

Activities

  • Create and maintain a dedicated chapter website to share member profiles, upcoming events, research outputs, and useful resources, as well as enable document/video sharing and discussion forums for collaboration.
  • Organize networking and kickoff events to host an initial online/in-person/hybrid event to introduce members and launch activities. Besides, we will encourage informal networking and idea exchange among participants.
  • Foster research collaboration and discussion to launch online webinars, forums, and working groups for exploring joint research projects and facilitate connections between academia and industry for applied research.
  • Engage and support students to promote ITS through outreach to BSc, MSc, and PhD students. We will establish MSc and PhD thesis awards to recognize excellence in ITS research.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion to encourage female student participation and career development in ITS and integrate diverse perspectives into organizational efforts and leadership roles.
  • Strengthen academic-industry links to co-organize events and workshops with industry partners and align academic activities with real-world transportation challenges.
  • Collaborate with other IEEE Chapters for joint events and initiatives.

Steps To Achieve Goals

  • Step 1: Contact all French IEEE ITSS members with a welcome message and activity survey and form the Chapter’s Executive Committee and working groups.
  • Step 2: Develop and launch the Chapter website and set up mailing lists and collaborative tools (e.g., Slack, shared drives).
  • Step 3: Initial ITSS webinar for academic-industry engagement and plan and execute the inaugural networking event.
  • Step 4: Student Involvement Initiatives by creating, announcing, and publicizing thesis award programs.
  • Step 5: Identify key industry stakeholders and academic supporters to initiate partnerships for co-funding and co-hosting events.
  • Step 6: Track member engagement, event attendance, and feedback and adjust strategies based on community input and evolving needs.
