French Chapter

The IEEE French ITSS Chapter was established in October 2024 to unite the strong community of French researchers and industry professionals in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and student engagement. Its focus is on promoting joint research initiatives, supporting diversity, and enhancing academia-industry connections within the ITS domain. Over the past year, the ITSS France Chapter has been actively engaged in strengthening the national and international intelligent transportation community through a mix of scientific support, knowledge-sharing, and stakeholder engagement. The chapter contributed to advancing research exchange by supporting a major international event focused on emerging transportation technologies, while also launching a regular talk series (ITSS France Talk Series) to foster discussion around cutting-edge topics. In addition, it helped facilitate exchanges between academia, industry, and public partners by convening presentations and collaborative forums aimed at exploring future mobility concepts and innovative approaches to safer, smarter, and more sustainable transport systems.

Activities

• Organize networking and kickoff events to introduce members and launch activities. Our first Hybrid Webinar has been successfully launched to bring together researchers, industry professionals, and students, and foster informal networking and idea exchange.
• Foster research collaboration and discussion by launching online webinars, forums, and working groups to explore joint research projects and facilitate connections between academia and industry for applied research.
• Engage and support students by promoting ITS through outreach to BSc, MSc, and PhD students. We will establish MSc and PhD thesis awards to recognize excellence in ITS research and actively involve students in Chapter events.
• Promote diversity and inclusion by encouraging female student participation and career development in ITS, and integrating diverse perspectives into organizational efforts and leadership roles.
• Strengthen academic-industry links by co-organizing events and workshops with industry partners, aligning academic activities with real-world transportation challenges.
• Collaborate with other IEEE Chapters for joint events and initiatives to broaden our reach and impact.
