Short Description

This committee aims to establish a global platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of intelligent mining. It seeks to advance the digital transformation and intelligent innovation of coal and non-coal mining industries by promoting the integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, and IoT, with traditional mining practices. This committee focuses on enabling sustainable mining practices that prioritize safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence, supporting the global push towards safe, green, efficient, and intelligent mining.

Goal

The primary goal of this committee is to create a robust network of experts, researchers, and industry practitioners dedicated to advancing the field of intelligent mining. The committee aims to:

  1. Foster innovation in mining through the integration of advanced information technologies, including AI, machine learning, digital twins, and autonomous systems.
  2. Address critical challenges in mining safety, environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, and operational productivity.
  3. Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration among academia, industry, and regulatory bodies to accelerate the development and adoption of smart mining technologies.
  4. Develop and disseminate best practices, standards, and guidelines for intelligent mining systems.
  5. Serve as a catalyst for the modernization of mining operations by bridging theoretical research with practical applications, enhancing global competitiveness in the mining sector.

By achieving these objectives, the committee will contribute significantly to the transformation and high-quality development of mining industries worldwide.

Committee Activities

Activity Plan

  1. Organizing tutorials and seminars on Smart Mining Theory and Technology
  2. Proposing special issues in an IEEE journal/transaction, ideally in an IEEE ITSS Society’s flagship journal
  3. Technically co-sponsoring and co-organizing IEEE conferences that well cover the topic on Smart Mining Theory and Technology
