ITSS Distinguished Lecture Series:
Omnidirectional Computer Vision for Automotive Perception
Date: 08 July 2024 | Time: 17:00 PM CET
Speaker: Ciarán Eising
Join us, Monday, 8th of July, 2024, at 17:00 PM CET for an exciting virtual talk by Ciarán Eising on the topic “Omnidirectional Computer VIsion for Automotive Perception”.
This talk is part of the ITSS Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS), organized by the ITSS Germany Chapter and technically co-sponsored by University of Limerick.
Topic:
Omnidirectional Computer Vision for Automotive Perception
Abstract:
Despite being commonly deployed on vehicles, omnidirectional cameras are a different camera modality than what we are typically used to, where we sacrifice nice geometry for significantly larger fields-of-view. This lecture will discuss Omnidirectional cameras, how to represent them geometrically, optical effects of using omnidirectional cameras, neural networks on omnidirectional cameras, and applications of omnidirectional cameras in ADAS/Vehicle Autonomy.
Biosketch:
Ciarán Eising holds a B.E. and Ph.D. from the University of Galway, Ireland. He worked at Valeo in Ireland from 2009 to 2020, serving as a Computer Vision Team Lead, Architect, and Senior Expert. He joined the University of Limerick in 2020 and is an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision, where he leads the Intelligent Transportation team in the DiCE research group. He has more than 80 publications and 170 patents in computer vision applied to ADAS and autonomous driving, and related fields.
