It has a growing number of submissions, publications, special sections, and citations and will be applying for inclusion in Scopus in 2022.  The ITS Society is looking for an enthusiastic and capable person to succeed the Founding Editor in Chief with a term beginning on 1st January 2023.  The Editor in Chief (EiC) is a key decision-maker in determining the focus, direction, and strategy of OJ-ITS.

The EiC of OJ-ITS:

  • appoints members of the Editorial Board and engages with them regularly to discuss and drive journal development,
  • establishes special topic sections managed by guest editors,
  • makes all final decisions on acceptance, revisions, and rejection of submissions,
  • seeks to improve article quality continuously while reducing the time from submission to publication,
  • and serves as an ambassador for the journal through activities such as encouraging colleagues to submit articles and promoting the journal in seminars, conferences, and social media.
  • Additional responsibilities can be found in Section 2.4 of the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual.

The EiC of OJ-ITS is a member of the Publication Board of the ITS Society and reports to the Vice President of Publications.

The new EiC of OJ-ITS should have the following profile:

  • an extensive scientific track record and network in the field of ITS,
  • extensive experience as an author, reviewer, and associate editor of IEEE ITS publications,
  • well-organized professional with motivating leadership.

In addition, the applicant must have oral and written proficiency in English and must be an IEEE member in good standing (in the grade of Life Member/Member or above), and a member of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS).

Based on the Publication Boards’ commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, we would like to encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply for this position. The EIC is appointed for a three-year term, with a possible two-year extension. There is a yearly budget to appoint an editorial assistant.

Applications should be no longer than 2 pages and should describe your motivation for submitting an application and address the profile elements listed above. Applications are due before 15 August 2022 to the founding Editor in Chief Bart van Arem
