Qi Kang received the B.S. degree in automatic control, the M.S. degree in control theory and control engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in control theory and control engineering from Tongji University, Shanghai, China, in 2002, 2005, and 2009, respectively.From 2007 to 2008, he was a Research Associate with the University of Illinois, Chicago, IL, USA. From 2014 to 2015, he was a Visiting Scholar with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ, USA. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Control Science and Engineering and the Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Science and Technology, Tongji University. He has led or participated in over ten research projects, funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Ministry of Education of China, and industry. He has over 100 publications, including three books, over 60 journal papers. He holds six patents and over ten pending ones. His research interests are in swarm intelligence, evolutionary computation, machine learning, and intelligent control and engineering optimization in transportation, energy, and water systems.
