Bio:
Muhammad Bilal (Senior Member, IEEE) is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, UK, which he joined in 2023. His research includes network optimization, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, vehicular networks, information-centric networking, artificial intelligence, and cloud/fog computing. Dr. Bilal is a prolific author; he published numerous articles in top-tier journals and conferences. His pioneering work has also led to the successful acquisition of multiple US and Korean patents.  He was previously an Associate Professor in the Division of Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Korea University’s Smart Quantum Communication Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Network Engineering from the School of Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea University of Science and Technology, in 2017. Dr Bilal has worked on research projects supported by the UKRI, the Korean Government’s Institute for Information & Communications Technology Promotion (IITP), the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) Korea, the BK21 program, the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), and the National Science Foundation of China. He is a member of the editorial boards for IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Future Directions in Technology, Policy, and Ethics Newsletter, Alexandria Engineering Journal (Elsevier), and Physical Communication (Elsevier), and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Smart Vehicles and Smart Transportation.
