Bio:
Handong Yao is an Assistant Professor in the School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering and leads the Mobility Lab at the University of Georgia. He received his Master and PhD from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, in 2015 and 2020 respectively, and B.S. from Hefei University of Technology, China, in 2013. His research focuses on developing cyber-physical transportation systems powered by smart infrastructure technologies, including advanced sensing, communication, and automation. He leverages machine learning techniques and traffic flow theory to enhance transportation system sustainability, safety, and efficiency. He is a member of IEEE and ASCE. He is the author/co-author of over 20 journal and conference papers.
