The ITS Society confers awards annually to honor and recognize significant contributions in the field of ITS by its members.

IEEE ITS Outstanding Research Award

The IEEE ITS Outstanding Research Award is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development teams who have made significant contributions to research in ITS related fields (ITS Research Award), developed and deployed successful ITS systems or implementations (ITS Application Award), and demonstrated leadership in promoting ITS technologies (ITS Institutional Lead Award).

IEEE ITS Outstanding Application Award

The IEEE ITS Outstanding Application Award is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development teams who have made significant contributions to research in ITS related fields (ITS Research Award), developed and deployed successful ITS systems or implementations (ITS Application Award), and demonstrated leadership in promoting ITS technologies (ITS Institutional Lead Award).

IEEE ITS Institutional Lead Award

The IEEE ITS Institutional Lead Award is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development teams who have made significant contributions to research in ITS related fields (ITS Research Award), developed and deployed successful ITS systems or implementations (ITS Application Award), and demonstrated leadership in promoting ITS technologies (ITS Institutional Lead Award).

IEEE ITS Young Researcher/Engineer Award

IEEE ITS Young Researcher/Engineer Award is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development in place to recognize early career contributions and leadership in research and/or application in ITS related fields.

IEEE ITS Lifetime Achievement Award

IEEE ITS Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development in place to recognize for exemplary contributions to Intelligent Transportation Systems over are career.

IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award

The IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award is given annually for the best dissertation in any ITS area that is innovative and relevant to practice. This award is established to encourage doctoral research that combines theory and practice, makes in-depth technical contributions, or is interdisciplinary in nature, having the potential to contribute to the ITSS and broaden the ITS topic areas from either the methodological or application perspectives.

IEEE ITSS Award in Intelligence and Security Informatics

The IEEE ITSS Award in Intelligence and Security Informatics may be given in recognition of sustained technical contributions to, leadership in, and/or outstanding research in the field of Intelligence and Security Informatics , is given annually for ITS researchers, practitioners, and research/development teams who have made significant contributions to research in ITS related fields (ITS Research Award), developed and deployed successful ITS systems or implementations (ITS Application Award), and demonstrated leadership in promoting ITS technologies (ITS Institutional Lead Award).

IEEE ITSS Fellows

IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation. According to current IEEE guidelines, the IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.

Recognition

The ITS World Congress Hall of Fame was created in 2010 to recognize luminaries and true thought leaders in the ITS field. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to (a) an outstanding leader in the organizations they have led; (b) a thought leader in the ITS field; and (c) a champion of vision of ITS and its fulfilment within and beyond the ITS Community.
