In late 2020, Dr. Samy El-Tawab from James Madison University and Dr. Brian B. Park from the University of Virginia launched a new IEEE Intelligent Transportation Chapter in the Central Virginia area, USA. This innovative chapter was established to bring together professionals, researchers, and students interested in advancing intelligent transportation systems. Among its various activities, the chapter has hosted workshops focused on emerging technologies in transportation, organized networking events to foster collaboration among members, and initiated community outreach programs to raise awareness about smart mobility solutions. Through these efforts, Dr. El-Tawab and Dr. Park aim to create a vibrant community dedicated to enhancing transportation safety, efficiency, and sustainability in the region.
