Short Description

Intelligence and security information play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and resilience of transportation systems. With the increasing sophistication of threats, including cyberattacks, and natural disasters, leveraging intelligence and security information becomes imperative for effectively mitigating risks and safeguarding passengers, infrastructure, and assets.

The goal of our IEEE technical committee is to actively contribute to the advancement of Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI) by supporting the ISI conference. ISI represents an interdisciplinary research domain that engages academic scholars in information technologies, computer science, public policy, bioinformatics, medical informatics, and social and behavioral studies. Additionally, it involves collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement and intelligence professionals, as well as information technology industry experts and consultants. Our aim is to promote ISI’s objectives of enhancing counterterrorism and homeland security efforts by fostering anticipation, prevention, preparedness, and response to security threats across physical, cyber, enterprise, and societal domains. We intend to amplify awareness of the ISI conference through our technical workshops and sessions.

Committee Activities

  • Prepare several publications under the umbrella of Information Security and Privacy in the Intelligent Transportation World.
  • Create a workshop at one of the IEEE conferences about the InfoSec and Privacy in the ITS world.
  • Participate as Associate Editor, Chair, Co-Chair, Editorial board for several IEEE and IEEE ITS conferences, journals, magazines, and activities.
  • Support IEEE ITS Chapters, (e.g., IEEE ITS Central Virginia Chapter) in preparing some of their projects and activities.
  • Propose Tutorial: Training Session for “Security and Cyber Hygiene Best Practices for Intelligent Transportation”
  • Offer research classes for Intelligent Transportation, and share the materials with other universities and colleges around the USA
