Bio:
Chelsea C. White III is the Schneider National Chair of Transportation & Logistics H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1974 in Computer, Information, and Control Engineering. His has served as President of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (1992 93), received the Norbert Wiener Award in1999 and the Joseph G.Wohl Outstanding Career Award in 2005, both from the IEEE SMC Society, and an IEEE Third Millennium Medal. He is the recipient of the 2008 IEEE ITS Society Outstanding Research Award. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of INFORMS, and the founding chair of the IEEE TAB Committee on ITS (now the IEEE ITS Society). He is the former Editor of the IEEE Transactions on SMC, Parts A and C, and was the founding Editor of the IEEE Transactions on ITS. He has published primarily in the areas of the control of finite stochastic systems and knowledge-based decision support systems. His most recent research interests include freight transportation and the control of logistics and supply chain systems.
