T-ITS Editorial Board Member

Dr. Hani S. Mahmassani holds the William A. Patterson Distinguished Chair in Transportation at Northwestern University, where he is the Director of the Northwestern University Transportation Center. He specializes in traffic science, network modeling and algorithms, transportation-telecommunications interactions, dynamic system management, and real-time operation of logistics and distribution systems. He received the 2010 IEEE Outstanding Intelligent Transportation Systems Application Award, recognizing pioneering contributions to development of dynamic network modeling software (DYNASMART). He has served as principal investigator on numerous funded research projects sponsored by international, national, state, and metropolitan agencies and private industry. He received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in transportation systems and his MS in transportation engineering from Purdue University.
