Hussein Dia is Associate Professor at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. He is a Civil Engineer with leadership credentials in ITS and Transport Modeling. He has 30 years of engineering experience in the public and private sectors. He previously held a number of senior ITS positions including Director, ITS Research Laboratory at the University of Queensland; Director, ITS Australia; and Technical Leader, ITS at AECOM. His interests are in next generation smart infrastructure systems and the convergence of technology, infrastructure and human elements in urban environments. Hussein received his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Purdue University, and his PhD from Monash University. His standing in this field is demonstrated by more than 100 publications including a book on ITS. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Fellow of Engineers Australia, and Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
