Bio:
Baris Fidan (M?02, SM?11) is an associate professor at the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department, University of Waterloo, Canada. He is cross-apponted with the departments of Systems Design Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received the B.S. degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 1996, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Bilkent University, Turkey in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at the University of Southern California, USA in 2003. He worked at the University of Southern California in 2004 as a postdoctoral research fellow, and at the National ICT Australia and the Research School of Information Sciences and Engineering of the Australian National University in 2005-2009 as researcher/senior researcher. His research interests include control and coordination multi-vehicle systems, sensor networks, cooperative target localization, adaptive and nonlinear control of vehicular systems, cooperative and adaptive system identification, high performance and hypersonic flight control, platooning and cruise control, emergency maneuvering. He has coauthored one textbook, one edited book, one MATLAB toolbox, and more than hundred publications in prestigious refereed journals/ books/ conferences. He has served as an associate editor of 2 journals, and as a program committee member of several conferences.
