Bio:
Christos S. Ioakimidis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He is the European Research Area (ERA) Chair Holder and Research Director of the ?Net-Zero Energy efficiency on City Districts? Unit at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mons (UMONS), Mons, Belgium. He holds a BSc/Dip.Ing in Mechanical Engineering, Greece (1994), a MSc in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, USA (1996), a PhD in Mechanical & Chemical Engineering, U.K. (2001) and an MBA in Finacial Eningeering, Greece (2007). Previously has been a Research Professor in various well-known Universities/Research Institutions in Europe (UD-Spain, DUTH- Greece, etc) and USA. Recipient of national, international awards with more than 155 articles in international journals and conferences under peer-reviewed. Has been a researcher at MIT (USA), IST (Portugal), CNR (Italy), GUT (Poland), (HWU, U.K.) etc and visiting professor at AIT (AT), CERTH/ITI (GR) with a research experience (24 years) that includes 42 research projects of total budget of9.5. ME funded by regional, national and international governmental, public and private organizations. His research interests are in the new field of Complex Smart Energy and Transport Systems towards a Sustainable Smart District/City (Cyber Physical System of Systems, CPSoS) covering topics such as: Transport management, transport modeling and policy, sustainable mobility (including e-mobility), demand side management, energy efficiency on houses-buildings, energy and electricity markets, smart grids, energy and transport systems integration and interaction (RES, mRES, EVs, storage), Gamification, serious games, entrepreneurship and SMEs, innovation/green economy.
