Bio:
Javier A. Barria is an Associated Professor (Reader) with the Intelligent Systems and Networks Group, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an affiliated member of the Centre for Transportation Studies at Imperial College London. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering and the M.B.A. degree from Imperial College London in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a Chartered Engineer in the U.K. and a member of the IEEE. He was a British Telecom Research Fellow from 2001 to 2002. He is the author/co-author of over 80 peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical reports in the of his interest which include the application of distributed algorithms to monitor and solve resource allocation problems in dynamic changing networked environments; on-line anomalous behaviour detection and traffic inference for VANETS, sensor networks and power distribution networks, and the interaction of Electric Vehicles with Information and Communications networks, and Power System networks. He has been a member of the editorial board of The Computer Journal since 2008, and has been a guest editor on the ACM Transaction on Embedded Computing Systems. He is currently a member of various European countries Research Council boards. He has been the joint holder of several European Commission projects (Frameworks 5, 6 and 7) and U.K. Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) project contracts, all concerned with aspects of networked systems design, operations and management.
