Bio:
Qiang Zhu is a Profssor and Chair of the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Michigan - Dearborn, USA. He is also the William E. Stirton Professor at the University. He is an affiliated faculty member of the Michigan Institute of Data Science (MIDAS) at the University of Michigan. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo in 1995. He also holds an M.Sc. from the McMaster University and an M.Eng. and a B.Sc. from the Southeast University. He has been honored as an ACM Distinguished Scientist (2013) and an IBM CAS Faculty Fellow (2003). His research has been supported by highly competitive funding sources including NSF, IBM and Ford Motor Company. He was a recipient of numerous distinguished awardshonors including 2004 IBM Faculty Award, 2003 IBM Faculty Award, 2001 UMD Distinguished Faculty Research Award, 1999 IBM University Partnership Research Award, and a number of best paper awards including the 2008 Wilkes Award from British Computer Scienty. He has published over 120 papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences. Some of his research work was included in several well-known researchtext books. He has served as an Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, and Editorial Board member for 6 journals and a programorganizing committee member for over 150 international conferences.
