Bio:
Young-Jin Kim received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), MA, in 2015. He worked with Korea Electric Power Corporation as a Power Transmission and Distribution System Engineer from 2007 to 2011. He was also a Visiting Scholar with the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research, Spain, in 2014, and a Postdoctoral Researcher with Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic Systems Analysis, Energy Systems Division, Argonne National Laboratory, IL, from 2015 to 2016. He joined the faculty of the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Korea, in 2016, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Kim is a senior member of IEEE. He has authored or coauthored over 60 articles in refereed international journals and conferences. He holds three patents. He has won two Best Paper Awards at IEEE Transmission and Distribution (T&D) conferences. He is also a recipient of the Best Reviewer for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SMART GRID in 2019. Moreover, he has served as an Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SMART GRID from 2016, an Associate Editor of the IEEE SYSTEMS JOURNAL, and an Associate Editor of the IEEE ACCESS from 2021.

1. Design and operation of power grid infrastructure for charging stations of electric and hydrogen vehicles 2. Cloud-based optimal operation and control of mobile energy storage systems and electric vehicle batteries 3. AI-based energy management of electric systems ranging from powertrains to power grid - Dynamic state estimation in electric power systems 4. Model predictive control, applied deep learning, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation
