Tutorial IEEE ITS Standards Development and Update

IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV) 2024

Date: June 2, 2024

Location: Jeju Island, Korea

Why?

Are you aware of the role of standards for the society, the economy and the environment? Are you curious to know more details about the IEEE standards in general and the standards development in the domain of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in particular? The tutorial “IEEE ITS Standards Development and Update” will offer you a great opportunity to extend your knowledge, for your career and professional network.

Welcome to join us on June 2, 2024!

It doesn’t matter whether you come from academia, industry or authority.

What?

IEEE is one of the SDOs (Standards Development Organizations). Different from other SDOs, IEEE, as the world’s largest professional association advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity, is also engaged in many other fields, such as publications, conferences, education, and technical activities. The involvement of IEEE ITSS in standards development is relatively new. The underlying idea is to emphasize the importance of standards for the ITS domain, to educate ITS engineers and researchers in the domain of standards development and use, to encourage them to become standards experts, and in general to actively contribute to the IEEE standards activities.

The training tutorial intends to help engineers and scientists (from academia, industry or authority):

  • to learn the IEEE standards development procedure;
  • to get involved in the IEEE standards activities;
  • to acquire an overview and update of the IEEE standards in the domain of ITS;
  • to extend the knowledge and career opportunities.

The tutorial will be highly interactive. A Q&A session will be held at the end of the tutorial. Participants are welcome to send questions and requirements in advance by contacting Dr. Meng Lu.

For Whom?

  • Engineers and researchers, who are curious to learn more about standardization in general and IEEE standards activities in particular, and about the state of the art of IEEE standards development in the domain of ITS.
  • Standards experts, who would like to get an update on standards topics in the domain of ITS, and to discuss related specific standards topics and/or issues, for instance concerning cooperative and automated driving.
